Abdul Ali Shebashram is a philanthropic endeavour. It is registered as a charitable organization with the Ministry of Social Welfare of the Government of Bangladesh.
The Shebashram is named after Haji Abdul Ali, the late father of the founder, Dr. Shajahan Kabir. It was founded in the native village of the founder with the aim of serving the elderly, providing free medical services to the community, and raising social awareness about the needs and rights of older people in our society. To fulfil this aim, the old-age home was established in 2011 on a no-profit, no-loss basis, primarily to rehabilitate elderly men and women and to provide care and support irrespective of their social, economic, ethnic, or religious background.
With generous support from family, friends, and the community, the construction of the Shebashram was completed in 2011, and its activities formally began in 2016 with the organization of a free medical camp. Currently, the Shebashram has two single-storied buildings and one two-storied earthen house, with the capacity to accommodate 40 elderly residents. It aims to provide the best possible care and comfort to senior citizens.
